At Chapter One, we strive to help students become proficient and passionate life-long readers, and today, we are excited to announce the launch of our Global Free Library. This new initiative is a completely free online collection of stories that celebrates the world’s diversity and allows us to support children around the globe.

To build this vibrant library, we commissioned authors and illustrators to create original content using their authentic voices and life experiences. The collection includes stories about diversity, equity, and inclusion, immigrant experiences, people with disabilities, environmental justice, gender equality and diversity, and indigenous/first nations stories, and this is only the beginning.

The stories have been stunningly illustrated to capture the imagination of every child. Here is a place for children to explore and be inspired, either by themselves, or reading together with parents, teachers, friends and family. And Chapter One is always looking for new authors and illustrators who want to inspire the next generation of avid readers.

The Global Free Library has content for students in kindergarten through second grade and has been designed to be a safe place for children to explore. There are no advertisements, no offers for premium content, and no use of private information. Each story has been vetted for child appropriateness. For many stories, both the author and the illustrator have created a video of themselves describing their motivation in creating the story.

We hope these stories will inspire both the children and adults who read them for years to come.
