Chapter One High Impact Tutoring Results Published in Peer Reviewed Journal, Learning and Instruction

Year One results from the Stanford-led study show that Chapter One students were more than twice as likely to achieve grade-level reading targets.

Toronto, ON, October 3, 2024 — Results from a study on Chapter One High Impact Tutoring by Stanford University's National Student Support Accelerator (NSSA) have been published in the peer-reviewed journal Learning and Instruction.

Year One results are part of an ongoing four-year NSSA randomized controlled trial involving 800 students in Broward County Public Schools in Florida.

Key findings showed that students receiving one-on-one high impact tutoring with Chapter One were more than twice as likely to achieve grade-level reading targets compared to their peers. The program not only led to significant literacy improvements but also proved to be scalable and cost-effective.

The high impact tutoring approach features short, focused lessons conducted frequently in the classroom throughout the week . The program is delivered by professional tutors, called Early Literacy Interventionists, who are trained to use Chapter One’s custom software applications to assess and instruct each child in real time.
