One Million Stories Communications Toolkit for Chapter One Volunteer Coordinators and Corporate Partners

This toolkit provides ready-to-use communications materials to help you engage your employees and showcase your support for our One Million Stories campaign

April 2026 - Chapter One's One Million Stories campaign is now live! We’re thrilled that your organisation is part of it.

Since Chapter One launched in 2018, volunteers across all our partner organisations have collectively shared around 433,500 stories with children who need extra reading support. One Million Stories by 2030 is how we make that collective impact visible - a count of stories shared, building towards one million. Every session your employees deliver is in the total.

The National Year of Reading 2026 is the moment to reflect on what we've built together, and to go further.

There are two key things we're asking partner organisations to do:

  • Share your involvement in the campaign on LinkedIn (and your other channels)

  • Encourage your employees to get involved and add their stories to the count

[Organisation name] is proud to be part of @Chapter One UK's One Million Stories campaign. This academic year, our volunteers have so far shared [insert your running total found on your volunteer coordinator dashboard] stories with children who need extra reading support - and every one counts towards the goal of one million by 2030.

Research shows that children are more likely to become lifelong readers when they have people in their lives who give them both the will and the skill to read for pleasure. That's exactly what our volunteers do - spending 30 minutes a week, online, during the working day, reading with a child who needs a little extra support.

The impact is real: 88% of children on the programme improved their reading level last year. But the benefits run both ways - 96% of volunteers say they would recommend it, and 62% report an increased sense of wellbeing. We're proud to be part of something that matters, for the children on the programme and for our people. #OneMillionStories #NationalYearOfReading

[Organisation name] is proud to be part of @Chapter One UK's One Million Stories campaign, now live as part of the National Year of Reading 2026.

Since Chapter One launched in 2018, volunteers from organisations like ours have collectively shared hundreds of thousands of stories with children who need extra reading support. By 2030, the goal is one million. Every 30-minute session our volunteers deliver moves that counter forward.

Only 1 in 3 children say they enjoy reading. Our volunteers are part of changing that - and in 2024-25, Chapter One partners collectively delivered £2,782 of measurable social impact per child.

If you work for [organisation name] and haven't yet signed up to volunteer, now is the time. Just 30 minutes a week, online, during your working day - talk to [contact/CSR team] to find out more. #OneMillionStories2030

One million stories by 2030. That's the goal @Chapter One UK has set - and [organisation name] is committed to helping get there.

Through the Chapter One Online Reading Volunteers Programme, our employees spend 30 minutes a week reading online with a child aged 5-8 who needs extra support. No travel, no experience necessary - just time and willingness to show up. The results speak for themselves. Last year, 88% of children on the programme improved their reading level over the course of the year and 96% developed more positive attitudes towards reading, including increased confidence.

The National Year of Reading 2026 feels like the right moment to reaffirm that commitment. Every story our volunteers share with the children counts.
