One Million Stories Communications Toolkit for Chapter One Online Reading Volunteers
This toolkit makes it easy for you to celebrate being part of the campaign and help us spread the word!
April 2026 - Our One Million Stories campaign is now live! ⚡
Since Chapter One launched in 2018, volunteers like you have collectively shared around 433,500 stories with children who need extra reading support. One Million Stories by 2030 is how we make that visible - a real-time count of every story shared, building towards one million, with every volunteer's contribution in the total.
The National Year of Reading 2026 makes this the right moment to reflect on what we've built together and to keep going.
Two things we're asking volunteers to do:
Celebrate being part of the campaign by sharing your story on LinkedIn
Help us spread the word - your support can inspire colleagues and connections to get involved
Join the conversation on LinkedIn
As a Chapter One volunteer, your voice carries real weight. When you share what volunteering has meant to you, you show people what 30 minutes a week can actually look like and why it matters.
Tag us in your posts so we can share them. We are @Chapter One UK on LinkedIn.
Important! Please don't mention your pupil by name on social media. Please do feel free to edit/personalise the below posts.

Chapter One's One Million Stories campaign is officially live! I'm proud to be part of it.
Since 2018, @Chapter One UK volunteers have collectively shared hundreds of thousands of stories with children who need extra reading support. Every 30-minute session counts towards the total, and by 2030 the goal is one million stories shared.
I've been volunteering for [X months/years], spending half an hour a week reading online with a child facing disadvantage. It's a small commitment - but watching a child's confidence grow, week by week, is anything but small.
Only 1 in 3 children say they enjoy reading. I’m proud to be one of the volunteers who are part of changing that. If you've ever thought about getting involved, now is a brilliant time to start. Volunteering is through your employer - so if your organisation is a Chapter One partner, find out if you can sign up. Not a partner yet? 2026 is the year to ask! #OneMillionStories2030

@Chapter One UK has just launched One Million Stories, a campaign tracking the stories shared between a volunteer and a child since 2018, all the way to one million by 2030! I’m proud to be part of their community of workplace volunteers across the UK, all working towards the same goal.
I've been one of those volunteers for [X months/years]. Every week I spend 30 minutes online reading with a child facing disadvantage. It fits around my working day, there’s no travel required, and it's often the best half hour of my working week.
The stats speak for themselves: 88% of children on the programme increased their reading level last year and 96% developed more positive attitudes towards reading.
Volunteering with Chapter One is done through your employer - so if your organisation is already a partner, talk to your CSR or social impact team about signing up. If they're not involved yet, 2026 is the year to change that! #OneMillionStories2030
